The guys from AT&T's Cingular wireless mobile phone carrier seem to be the first to demo a video call in the USA with the help of a wireless video share feature enabled on the LG CU500v cellphone.

For now though, the video streaming will only work one way and that means that only one person will be able to stream video at a certain time.

This thing might seem as a major drawback but considering the fact that the actual official unveiling of this new technology (for the US) will take place somewhere during the summer of 2007 and the fact that this technology is only at the beginning of its development, I suppose you can get along with the idea that the person streaming the video can stop and let the other send some video images.

Where will you be able to witness the demo of this highly expected technology on the state-side? Next week, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas right at the AT&T booth (number 9817).

There is another chance though to take a sneak preview of the demo in case you are employed by a Media company or even if you are some kind of an analyst and you will be attending the 7.00 PM Digital Experience event at Caesar's Palace on Sunday, January 7.

To give an example, the Cingular officials have said that it will be possible for a couple from San Antonio that has a new baby to send to the children's grandparents from Miami a video stream with images of the baby by simply pressing a key on the phone's keypad during the voice call.

Referring to this example, a Cingular spokesman has declared that "The parents receive an invitation asking if they want to view the live video stream, and once accepted, they begin seeing the video shot by the kids in San Antonio. The speakerphone turns on and the proud new grandparents in Miami can see a live video of their granddaughter taking her first steps or saying her first words."

Also, Kris Rine, the senior vice president of architecture and planning for AT&T, has said that "in the case of this technology demonstration, seeing is believing. Consumers can get a real feel for what 3G wireless can do and what to expect in the future."
