The name of Cingular will soon be history

By the end of this week, all Cingular corporate stores will be officially branded to AT&T. This is the result of a process that has started at the beginning of the year 2007 and is now coming to its end.

On the Cingular web site, a logo says it all: "Cingular is now the new AT&T". As part of this merging, around 1,800 Cingular corporate stores will change their logo for that of AT&T's.

At the beginning of the year, the two mobile service providers announced their intention of joining forces in order to win a larger market share. "Customers want simplification. By uniting the three company names into one, AT&T has simplified its message to the marketplace", observed Boyd Peterson, analyst at Yankee Group at that time. Since then, a campaign of informing the public about Cingular's transition to AT&T has taken place, as well as internal changes in the company's structure. All these at a fast pace, in order to make it possible to offer services to their clients as soon as possible.

As part of this merge, BellSouth will also provide services under the name of AT&T from now on. The purpose of this binding is that of providing better wireless and wireline services and better customer care. At least, this is what AT&T is promising to its old and new customers.

Cingular is the largest wireless company in the United States and the highest regarded at a worldwide level. They currently offer wireless services of digital voice and a data network to more than 60 million subscribers.

On the other hand, AT&T is the largest company in the United States when it comes to communication. It provides IP-based communications services to business at a global level. Furthermore, it is the most important provider of wireless, high speed Internet access, long distance voice and advertising services.
