Both Apple and AT&T Stores are getting ready...

With June and the iPhone release getting closer and closer, both Apple and AT&T are busy with preparations for the launch.

While Apple will undoubtedly be heavily advertising the iPhone in its own retail stores, it looks like AT&T will also be showcasing the device. Reports of special iPhone displays for the AT&T stores are floating around the web. Unlike regular displays, these will be massive, 7 feet tall by 3 feet wide, and dedicated to the handheld device. The displays are also said to require their own dedicated power supply and network cable, a clear indication that there will be a connection to the internet and live updating as well as demos.

The Apple stores themselves are seeing AT&T activity, as Cingular technicians are visiting them to test the mobile network connectivity. The move makes sense since customers will need a Cingular subscription with the device and reception needs to be perfect. It certainly wouldn't look good if the reception was poor during live demos of the device.

Last but not least, Apple has announced an open house on May 16th, through its official jobs site. The event will take place at the Elk Grove campus, and invites 'qualified individuals' to join the iPhone team. Apple is looking for iPhone people, and Telesales Representative, Telesales Team Manager, iPhone Personal Trainer and iPhone Personal Trainer Team Manager are among the available positions listed on the website.

With so many things happening on the surface, there can be little doubt that a lot more is happening behind the scenes. Apple has always liked grand launches for its products, and everything needs to be just right. With only a few weeks left before the launch, both Apple and AT&T are going to be very busy.
