It turns out Christina Aguilera's romance with Matt Rutler is more than just a rebound thing: new reports claim that the diva is convinced that he's “the one” and is even thinking about tying the knot with him ASAP.

Moreover, she is so set of getting married to Matt soon that she's pondering whether it wouldn't be a better idea to propose to him, instead of waiting for him to pop the question.

For some weeks now, Christina has been joking about it whenever she gets the chance, an unnamed but reportedly reliable source is quoted by DigitalSpy as saying.

In other words, she hopes that, if she jokes about tying the knot enough times, Matt will eventually ask for her hand in marriage. Or, if not, she will do so herself when she feels the time is right.

“He gets a little embarrassed, but it's obvious they've talked about it. It's coming soon. She wants to start over and thinks that asking him to marry her is the way to start,” the source says.

Rutler too wants to be married to the pop star, but he just doesn't have the money for a ring right now.

For those not in the know, he worked as a production assistant on “Burlesque,” the critically panned film starring Aguilera as one of the leads.

As such, he probably feels he doesn't have enough money to buy a ring worthy of Christina and the fortune she's amassed throughout the years.

“He wants to buy her a major diamond, so he's saving his pennies. He's going to propose this year, even if he has to buy the ring on credit,” the insider dishes.

So, either way, it looks like Christina Aguilera will be engaged by the end of the year, whether she pops the question on Matt, or he does so first.

In 2010, Christina and Jordan Bratman ended their 5-year marriage. She started dating Rutler shortly after, prompting speculation about how they might have been dating since before the split from her husband.
