A few days ago, Christina Aguilera announced she’d split from her husband of 5 years, music producer Jordan Bratman. She has filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, it has emerged today.

At the time the announcement was made, a publicist for the singer stressed that, though the two had separated months before, the goal was to solve differences, not to head towards divorce.

TMZ has learned that Christina has filed divorce papers, citing irreconcilable differences – but the real reason behind the split may be that she cheated on Jordan, reports say.

“Aguilera cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ in her divorce petition obtained by TMZ, which was filed today. It’s an interesting twist, since sources tell us Christina is the one who cheated,” the e-zine informs.

The two did not specify a reason for separating, but Aguilera’s rep did say that they were trying to work out problems and were only taking time apart to do so.

“According to the divorce docs, there is a prenup. The divorce petition asks that ‘Earnings and accumulations of [Aguilera] before marriage, during marriage and from and after the date of separation’ be considered separate property,” TMZ goes on to say.

The same documents reveal that Aguilera, represented by Laura Wasser, lists the actual date of separation as September 11 this year.

“The petition also seeks to terminate Bratman’s ability to get spousal support. Aguilera is seeking joint physical and legal custody of their child, Max, who is 2,” TMZ says.

“Sources connected with the couple tell TMZ the marriage fell apart after Aguilera allegedly cheated on Bratman. Aguilera’s side refused comment,” the same report reads.

Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman got engaged in February 2005 and were married in November of the same year, in a gorgeous ceremony in California.

Early in January 2008, their son Max was born. Throughout their marriage, not even once were rumors of marital problems heard, as the two seemed to be the picture-perfect family.
