14 DAY TRIAL // Christina Aguilera’s latest studio material has just dropped and, consequently, the singer is busy promoting it. One thing that’s totally distracting fans from her music though is her unusual style of dress, X17 Online seems to believe. Should Christina not try so hard to impress with her off the wall outfits and caked makeup, perhaps people would pay more attention to her music.
After performing on the Today Show in glittery stockings, a minuscule pair of red hotpants and leather jacket, Christina put on an appearance on the CBS Early Show and, sadly, it wasn’t her singing that got people talking. In other words, Aguilera is getting too much attention because of how she dresses and the impressive amount of makeup she puts on. Case in point: the see-through trench coat matched with over the knee bondage boots.
“This morning Christina Aguilera performed on the Early Show in NYC, and we’re not sure who advised her to wear a see through trench coat, but we have mixed feelings about it. Part of us likes it because it’s a bit cartoony and Gagalicious, but the other part of us wants to douse her with a fire hose to see if it’s really waterproof,” X17 writes. Sadly, it’s not the only media outlet to voice this type of feelings as more and more e-zines and bloggers are indirectly “advising” Christina to stop dressing like this and painting her face like it’s Halloween.
There was a time when she could pull this off, it is also being said, but that was years ago. Christina is now more mature and she should let that be reflected in her look as well, not just in the music she makes. “Personally, we’d like to see the singer stripped down to a more normal outfit with less makeup, because the talent is still there, we just don’t like being distracted by pounds of clownish lipstick, silly outfits and her obnoxious XTINA ring. Sorry!” X17 further says.
Then again, fans could say, the way she dresses and whether that distracts from her music may just be a matter of taste and perspective. If you do love Christina’s music and her latest album, that her taking a few liberties as regards fashion should be of no consequence.
