After several hiccups, some bigger than others, Christina Aguilera’s highly anticipated new album, “Bionic,” has dropped. The singer celebrated its release with an appearance on the Today Show, where she performed a bunch of her songs, both new and older, to the delight of her fans, as AceShowbiz can confirm.

The older tracks included “Fighter” and the gorgeous ballad “Beautiful,” while the new material she performed was the same set she did a few nights before, at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, a medley of “Bionic” and “Not Myself Tonight.” Dressed in black tights and a miniscule pair of red hotpants, Christina seemed in top shape as she strutted with her backup dancers and sang for the crowd – save for two instances when her voice seemed to crack.

“Fresh from taking the stage of Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California for MTV Movie Awards, Christina Aguilera went to New York City’s Rockefeller Center to celebrate the release of her new album ‘Bionic.’ She rocked a black leather jacket matched with skimpy red hot pants during the June 8 gig. Christina’s performance was part of ‘TODAY’ summer concert series which was kicked off on May 24 by Backstreet Boys. Her Tuesday set was a mix of old materials like ‘Fighter’ and ‘Beautiful’ and new songs,” AceShowbiz writes.

Christina also talked about her inspiration for her latest album, revealing son Max had a lot to do with its creation. “I was completely inspired by a lot of electronica music when my son was born and we both were listening to it a lot together. You know, having a child makes you think of the future and the next generation, and I got really inspired by electronica, which is so no-holds-barred with its sound and technology, and I wanted to really experiment with that. He [Max] definitely inspired a very playful side of me that I didn’t have prior to having him. He really inspired this album... and got me really in touch with my original pop roots of a decade ago, so it’s been really fun,” Aguilera said.

In the same interview, she also revealed a thing or two about her upcoming film, “Burlesque,” which drops this fall and for which she canceled the tour in support of “Bionic.” Below is Christina Aguilera performing “Bionic” and “Not Myself Tonight” on the Today Show.
