4mm Games, Terminal Reality and Def Jam Interactive have announced new songs that players will be able to enjoy in the upcoming Def Jam Rapstar, a video game that simulates the hip hop experience and is set to arrive on November 5 on the Nintendo Wii, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony. The creators of the new title are saying that this is the only game which aims to offer not just hip hop tracks and artists but also the feeling that the player is a rhyme dropping artist of the highest caliber.

The new tracks that have been confirmed as appearing in Def Jam Rapstar are: A Tribe Called Quest - Scenario; Chipmunk - Chip Diddy Chip (this track only comes on the United Kingdom version of the video game); Jim Jones - We Fly High; LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out; Ludacris - Stand Up; Onyx – Slam and RUN DMC - Run’s House. The developers have also confirmed two new producers that will come to the hip hop game, Cool & Dre on Epidemic and DJ Khalil on The Good Doctor.

Def Jam Rapstar is set to feature more than 40 songs when it comes out with more added after that date via downloadable content. The game will allow players to rhyme over the tracks, giving them grades depending on cadence and on delivery and encouraging to also tackle the more melodic bridges and choruses. Def Jam Rapstar also has a social aspect, allowing gamers to use a console linked camera, record their performances, edit them and then upload them to the official community that is being built around Def Jam Rapstar.

The game will also have a freestyle component, with producers creating original instrumental tracks that can then be used by players as backgrounds for their own rhymes.
