Earlier today, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it has set up an office whose role is to deal with cyber security issues.

According to ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying, the new cyber affairs office is responsible for diplomatic affairs that involve cyber security, People’s Daily informs.

Hua explained that China will collaborate with the United States on cyber security through the recently established cyber security work group.

Finally, she once again highlighted the fact that China strongly opposes cyberattacks.

Last week, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with US President Barack Obama.

During the meeting, Obama reportedly told Xi that cyber security concerns can impact economic relations, but experts doubt that the US president pressed his counterpart too much on cyber espionage, considering that the United States government has been hacking China for several years now, a fact confirmed by whistleblower Edward Snowden.
