Last week, US President Barack Obama met with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. Neither of them made any statements to the press after their talks ended on Saturday, but White House National Security Advisor Tom Donilon revealed that North Korea and cyber security were among the main topics of discussion.

According to Donilon, Obama warned Xi that if cybersecurity concerns were not addressed, the economic relationship between the two countries might suffer, NBC News reports.

In addition, Xi said on Friday that he and the US president reached “important consensus” on the issues they discussed.

The Associated Press cited Xi’s Senior Policy Advisor, Yang Jiechi, as saying that “Cybersecurity should not become the root cause of mutual suspicion and frictions between our two countries. Rather, it should be a new bright spot in our cooperation.”

As far as North Korea is concerned, both presidents agreed to cooperate in an effort to denuclearize the country.
