14 DAY TRIAL // In February this year, after announcing she had decided to separate from her cheating husband Ashley Cole, Cheryl Cole flew to the LA to seek advice and help from good friend, pro dancer Derek Hough. Speculation about a romance soon started, with the two even spending the night together on one instance. According to News of the World, the two are now officially an item, with Cheryl inviting Derek to her house to spend a few nights.
The singer has recently filed for divorce and, since Derek’s stint on Dancing With the Stars ended, she summoned him to London because she felt he could help her better cope with the situation. They’re in a relationship now and, according to spies speaking to News of the World, Cheryl has made it clear to Derek that she’s not looking for anything serious right now – but that’s not to say that she’s oblivious to how he is the exact opposite of Ashley.
“Cheryl was desperate to see Derek. She’s become very dependent on him. She’s been speaking to him almost every day and he’s helped her get through this awful time. She really wanted Derek to come to London to be with her earlier but he couldn’t leave the States because he was partnering Nicole Scherzinger on Dancing with the Stars. But that ended just as Cheryl decided to go through with the divorce. She begged Derek to come and he instantly agreed. On Thursday they really connected again backstage at the O2 so she asked him to come back to her house,” an insider says for the tab.
“They looked completely comfortable together, just like any new couple would. Cheryl was obviously very happy to have him there. Derek is the first man to set foot in the Cole house since Cheryl chucked Ashley out. It was a very big decision on her part. But she loves spending time with Derek. Derek’s the complete opposite to Ashley. He’s very caring and supportive to Cheryl. They talk for hours and she feels very safe with him. She’s made it very clear she can’t rush straight into another serious relationship, but he’s very keen on her and is prepared to follow her around the world. She’s opened up to him about Ashley so he knows how vulnerable she is at the moment, which makes him want to be there for her even more,” another tipster dishes.
Aside from being very supportive, Derek is also head over heels in love with the singer, the spies further say. All it took was a word from Cheryl to get him on a plane to London – and he would certainly follow her all over the world if she ever asked him, they say.
