Cheryl Cole gets £3 million to join Simon Cowell on the US version of X Factor, says report

Cheryl Cole is moving to the US: new reports are coming in, saying the X Factor judge has just been offered a position on the panel of the US version, for double the money she makes now. Obviously, she said yes.

As we also noted on a previous occasion, Simon Cowell has made no secret of how much he wanted Cheryl on his US version of the popular ITV show.

At one point, word had it that executives were somewhat reluctant about it because they feared Cheryl’s thick accent may be a bit too much for American audiences, who would probably have problems understanding it.

Judging by a recent piece in Closer magazine, producers deemed this just a minor bump in the road and have already made an official offer to Cheryl this past Saturday.

An official announcement is still pending, though, but Simon has said he will announce the name of the stars on the panel of the US version of X Factor in a couple of weeks’ time, in December.

In the meantime, though, speculation has it Cheryl will get £3 for a season of the show. At the same time, she will also get the chance to promote her music across the pond, so it’s a double win for her.

“According to a source, Cheryl has landed herself a place on the U.S version of the X Factor set to be aired next year. With her album, Messy Little Raindrops set to be released in the U.S at the same time – 2011 could see Cheryl turn into a global phenomenon,” Closer reports.

“According to the source, Cheryl’s X Factor deal could be worth a staggering £3 million. Now here’s one ex-wag who can certainly match her ex in the earning stakes – which is something of a rarity,” the mag further points out.

“Cheryl Cole was officially offered the job on Saturday night according to the source, a week after U.S executives flew in to watch her judge on the show,” Closer writes.

While producers are telling the media no decision has yet been reached, Simon would only reveal that the lineup will be “full of surprises. ” “OK, one of the judges has quite long hair,” he also said just recently.

Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls, who sat in this summer for Dannii Minogue, is also reportedly in the running for a position as a judge.
