14 DAY TRIAL // It’s been a very troubled few weeks for Cheryl Cole, after allegations of husband Ashley’s infidelities started to surface in the media, for the second time in their 3+-year marriage. The singer did not make any comment on the state of affairs at home and flew to the US on business, while tabs back in the UK were saying she would issue a statement announcing her decision once she returned – which she did just hours ago on Twitter.
Coming to confirm the rumors, Cheryl has announced that she will be getting a divorce from her husband. Though the statement comes from the singer, it was not posted on her personal Twitter, but on that of her management, Supersonic PR, which refuses to offer more details on the split. It does say, though, that Cheryl herself will be issuing a statement these days.
“All recent stories based around Cheryl supposedly talking to ‘close pals’ are absolute [expletive],” Supersonic PR writes on Twitter. The announcement follows shortly, saying, “Statement about Cheryl Cole is to follow. Cheryl Cole is separating from her husband Ashley Cole. Cheryl asks the media to respect her privacy during this difficult time.” No other details are mentioned, but, for the sake of argument, right now, rumors in the British media are already starting to say the two are gearing up for quite a fight when it comes to dividing their assets and joint estate.
“Legal experts said it could go through within three months if both parties want a clean break and can agree how to split their assets. That would be before the World Cup, in which Cole is due to play for England. Cheryl is entitled to half the couple’s fortune despite being the lower earner of the two so far. Cole is worth £14million and pockets £6million a year made up of £4,260,000 from Chelsea plus lucrative income from an Adidas boot deal and his firm Kenzie. Cheryl has made more than £5million as a member of Girls Aloud. And her earning power is soaring,” The Sun informs.
At the same time, “pals” are saying for The Sun that she is determined to go through with the separation and file for divorce. She still loves Ashley, they claim, but is too heartbroken and disappointed by his infidelities to overlook them one more time.
