Earlier reports had it that Charlie Sheen’s career in television was practically over since he took care to sabotage it himself, but it would seem fans haven’t seen the last of him. A new report suggests the former “Two and a Half Men” star is currently in talks for a brand new sitcom.

Though this is not the first time that a report of this type makes it online – presumably because doing another sitcom would be the next logical step for the star – TMZ vouches this time it’s the real deal.

The celebrity gossip e-zine claims to have it on very good authority that the former CBS star is now in talks for his own sitcom, which might actually debut sooner than expected.

This way, producers would still capitalize on Sheen’s fame (or infamy, more like it), derived from how he chose to part ways with CBS, Warner Bros. and Chuck Lorre, the team behind “Two and a Half Men.”

“Sources connected with Charlie Sheen tell TMZ the actor is negotiating a ‘big offer’ for a new TV series that could debut as early as January, 2012,” TMZ reports.

The parties involved in the talks right now will probably come to a conclusion by the end of the week, with an announcement to be made shortly afterwards.

“We’re told Charlie’s reps are in ‘deep negotiations’ and the deal could be done by week’s end. Our sources say the sitcom is being written specifically around Charlie and will air on a broadcast network,” TMZ reports.

“The deal does not call for a pilot. The show would go straight to series,” adds the e-zine. This means that Sheen will get a full deal, instead of just shooting a pilot and then do a full season, if audiences respond well to the first episode.

TMZ notes that its spies would not reveal more details about the sitcom but, again, if the deal is finalized this week, more should emerge in the following days.
