Rapper DMX was recently involved in an altercation with security guards at a charity concert in Colorado Springs, where he was supposed to perform but was barred from getting up on the stage when he arrived one hour and a half late. The rapper and his posse were so vocal and determined to get up in front of the impatient audience, they even fought with security guards who were trying to prevent them from doing so. Unfortunately, when they did get up there, the sound had been cut off, MTV informs.

Video of the incident has already surfaced on the Internet and, as expected, it’s getting people confused as to what to think. On the one hand, there are those who stand up for the rapper, who insist that, although he was late, he still wanted to fulfill his contractual obligations by performing. Fans in the audience can also be heard chanting his name, which can only mean X doing his bit would have been the most advantageous solution to the problem. On the other hand, though, there are those who say security guards were right in blocking his access on the stage, as his obligations had already not been met by showing up so late.

Either way, regardless of who is right and who is not, the truth is a “mini-riot” broke out, as DMX continued in his attempts of clearing the path to the stage. At one point in the video, the rapper is seen near the stage as his crew members are trying to pull him up by the hands – and some even by his clothes. He can’t, though, because security guards are also doing their best to keep him down, in what would probably be a fun incident if it weren’t real.

DMX’s manager claims that the chaos that ensued with the rapper’s arriving late was nothing short of a misunderstanding, though. Given his track record with all sorts of violent incidents, not few are those who say this is yet another proof that DMX’s short fuse always gets the best of him, no matter whether we’re talking a professional gig or his personal life. Nakia Walker, his manager, tells MTV that this is no longer the case, asking fans to learn the specifics of the situation before passing judgment.

“Earl’s DJ went out to do soundcheck and the promoter said he was trying to build up the crowd, so he said, as opposed to 9 p.m., could you have him here at 11 p.m.? [His road manager] said that was fine and she called me because the promoter had said they have permits that say they had to close at a certain time, but if that’s what he’s saying, that’s fine. X is a different man now, and in the past he would have gotten angry and blown up, but he gets out and sees people leaving and sees them angry and he starts a prayer in the parking lot to get them calmed down.” Walker says of the incident.

Below is the video of DMX trying to make his way past security to perform.
