Rapper causes trouble in jail

It is not uncommon for rappers to also have a criminal sheet, yet few can hold a candle to that of former golden boy DMX, real name Earl Simmons. Now in prison awaiting sentencing on several counts, including animal cruelty and drug and weapon charges, DMX is in hot waters again and on “lockdown status” after threatening several prison guards, TMZ reports.

Apparently, the gossip website / paparazzi agency got to speak with someone on the inside where DMX is currently detained, and found that the rapper was determined to cause as much problems as he could. It all started, TMZ spies say, when the legally-challenged rapper refused to report to work, and from thereon, the feud between him and the jailers escalated until there was no other solution left than to put him on lockdown status.

“I already have a job and don’t need this [expletive],” DMX reportedly told the guards when they reprimanded him for not reporting for work. Then, sources share, he failed to report for his medication, and lashed out at the guards, swearing at them and threatening to “assault somebody to get some respect.” He was immediately thrown into lockdown and punished with a “special diet that is a form of bread and water,” as TMZ informs.

Late last month, Mark “Po” Dean, an associate and friend of DMX, came to the rapper’s defense in the case of identity theft and fraud for which he is yet to be sentenced. “Po” argued for the media that the charges stemmed from a clear misunderstanding more on behalf of the authorities, since fleeing a hospital without paying the bill and offering a false name for himself was only meant to protect DMX from the horde of fans and paparazzi that would assault him if they found out his whereabouts.

“I wanted him to just get the service immediately... Usually when you say an artist like DMX, everybody is so star-struck they [are] not concentrating on what’s going on. [The police] ran up in his [DMX's] crib saying that they was [sic] looking for papers from the hospital because he used a false name... It wasn’t really that.” “Po” maintained at the time. That did not explain, though, why the $7,500 hospital bill was still unpaid at the time of the arrest.
