Stylish and resistant device

WoongJin, a South Korean electronics manufacturer, currently showcases at CeBIT 2008 in Hanover, Germany (4 - 9 March), several interesting products. One of them is STM-7100, an industrial PDA different from most devices that fall into this category.

Presented as a luxury industrial PDA, STM-7100 comes with a piano black finish and it looks quite stylish. Of course, it has a large size, but there are no industrial PDAs to come in slim cases, so this is not a thing to complain about. STM-7100 is made for industrial environments and not for normal people - not that industrial workers are abnormal people, but you get the idea.

The STM-7100 PDA runs on Windows CE 5.0 Professional, it's powered by an Intel PXA 270 520MHz CPU and comes with 64MB NOR Flash memory and 64MB NAND Flash memory (expandable up to 1GB). It features a 3.5 inch TFT touchscreen display that supports 260k colors and a 240 x 320 pixels resolution, IC Card Reader, 2 inch Thermal Printer (speed: 80mm/sec), Magnetic Stripe Reader, 1D Laser Scanner that also supports 2D (only for PDF417), and a powerful 3800 mAh Li-Ion battery.

Furthermore, STM-7100 features CDMA 1x and WLAN (802.11b/g) connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, 2 Megapixel camera and microSD card slot. The PDA can operate at temperatures between -10 and 50 degrees Celsius and it can be stored at temperatures between -20 and 60 degrees Celsius. Also, it withstands 1.2m drops on concrete floors, hence it can be used in almost any working environment.

Although STM-7100 has been available for some time now, we have no details about its price. But it's surely a high one, as all the industrial PDAs are more expensive than normal ones. Which is understandable, considering the wide range of features they come with.
