14 DAY TRIAL // Asus really wants to become an important name in the Pocket PC and Smartphone industry, and after seeing its latest products, showcased at CeBIT in Hanover, Germany (4 ? 9 March 2008), I think the Taiwan-based company has all the chances to do so.
Besides P320 (the tiny Windows Mobile 6.1 handset), M536 (the QWERTY Pocket PC) and the exquisite Lamborghini ZX1 Smartphone, the Asian producer also presented Asus P560, another touchscreen enabled smartphone that comes with many high-end features.
Asus P560 resembles Asus Lamborghini ZX1, but only when it comes to technical specs, because the P560 doesn't have the Lamborghini look of ZX1. Even so, the handset has a very elegant design and it's also quite slim. Measuring 116.4 x 64.2 x 13.4 millimeters and weighing 120.5 grams (battery included), P560 provides support for tri-band WCDMA networks (850, 1900 and 2100 MHz) as well as for quad-band GSM ones (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz), offering EDGE, GPRS and HSDPA (3.6 Mbps) connectivity.
Furthermore, the smartphone has Microsoft's latest Windows Mobile 6.1 OS and features a 2.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with a 240 x 320 pixels resolution and 65k colors, Wi-Fi (802.11 b+g), built-in GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, USB 2.0, Music player, Video player, Java, Internet and email capabilities, 256MB of Flash memory, 128MB of SDRAM and microSD card support.
Asus P560 is powered by the same platform Asus Lamborghini ZX1 runs on: TI 2430 450 MHz CPU + EMP U360, and features a similar 3 Megapixel camera with auto focus, plus a secondary VGA video call camera.
There is no info yet about the availability of Asus P560, nor about its price, but we expect it to hit the market pretty soon. Until then, enjoy the live images made by Softpedia at CeBIT.
