General Mobile has an extensive background in developing software for mobile communication solutions, and since 2005 it also started to design and manufacture mobile technology products and GSM phones. The American company signed a number of distribution agreements in 2006, in order to cover a larger share of the mobile market. In consequence, in the US only, 250.000 General Mobile handsets were sold during 2007 (accounting for a total value of about $100 million).

General Mobile unveiled in October 2007 its DST11 phone, the first European double SIM handset, and now, at CeBIT 2008, the company showcased this device too, among its other products.

DST11 (or DST 11) is an elegantly designed slider that measures 98 x 49 x 17.9 millimeters and weighs 105 grams (battery included). Thanks to the innovative double SIM technology, the device allows the simultaneous use of 2 SIM cards, regardless of the network provider. Among its features we have a 2.4 inch TFT display with 262k colors support, music player (MP3, MIDI, WMA, AAC and AAC+), video player (MPEG4, 3GP), video/audio recorder, USB connectivity, microSD card support and a 1.3 Megapixel camera. The phone's battery is a 950 mAh Li-Ion one that can provide up to 220 minutes talk time and about 220 hours of stand-by time.

General Mobile DST11 will be available in various countries across the globe, starting the second quarter of 2008. The suggested retail prices are 299 Euro ($455) for the black version and 329 Euro ($500) for the white one.

A brand new phone launched by General Mobile at this year's CeBIT fair is DST22, a candybar that brings more advanced features than the DST11. Of course, DST22 comes with the double SIM technology too, meaning the phone actually sends two signals and receives two signals. Imagine how easy it will be when you cross borders with this kind of technology embedded in your handset.

General Mobile DST22 comes with a 2.4 inch TFT touchscreen display (262k colors support), GPRS, WAP 2.0, Bluetooth 1.2, USB, music player, video player, stereo speakers, audio recording capabilities (MP3, MIDI, AAC, AAC+), phone call recording, a 2.0 Megapixel camera and microSD card support. Measuring 112 x 50 x 15 mm and weighing 115 grams, the device packs a 1000 mAh Li-ion battery that can provide about 220 minutes of talk time and 220 hours of standby time.

General Mobile DST22 should be available in the second quarter of 2008 for a suggested retail price of 349 Euros (around $530).

Here we have live images from CeBIT with both DST22 and DST11. Enjoy :)
