All major companies are filing applications for new patents each year in order to enhance their intellectual property rights while developing new technologies for their products.

In a recent press release, Canon announced that the company had ranked first for the ninth year in a row among Japanese companies for the number of U.S. Patents awarded last year, according to preliminary patent results issued by IFI CLAIMS Patent Services.

With a number of 3,825 awarded patents, Canon also holds the third place among all companies in the U.S., according to the same patent research experts.

The company is constantly looking to innovate and improve current technologies in order to develop competitive products that can outperform their rivals.

Recent Canon patents we have presented include: AF automatic microadjustment, 16-120mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, and even a 100x zoom lens that could be introduced along with the firm's upcoming SX60 superzoom digital camera.
