As Activision recently announced the release date for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 versions of Call of Duty 3, they decided to relaunch the games' official website.

Activison decided to put back online www.callofduty.com to provide COD fans with the latest movies and information about Call of Duty 3. Gamers who hit the website can reserve a copy of the upcoming game by pre-ordering it. They can also sign-up for a COD newsletter that will give fans information about Call of Duty related updates. The new improved website will feature the latest COD movie and screenshots.

The first installment in the Call of Duty series was released back in 2003 and was based on the Quake III engine. Call of Duty is a war game that tries to depict World War II. The game is not historically accurate, but the infantry and combined arms warfare used in World War II are rather nicely simulated.

The game tends to become more and more popular as from October 13 2006 both Call of Duty installments are available through the Steam distribution system. This came a result of a contract signed by Activision and Valve, contract that allows Steam to deliver some of the games published by Activision, including the COD series and the GUN western.
