The upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have an option for color blind gamers which should help them enjoy the game without any sort of problem despite their vision deficiency, according to one of the game's two development studios.

Color blindness affects quite a lot of people and stops them from enjoying some things, with video games in particular, because they rely on red cues to highlight pain suffered by characters in the virtual gameplay or various areas of their interfaces.

Thankfully for Call of Duty players that suffer from this, Sledgehammer Games, one of the studios that are working on the upcoming first-person shooter, has confirmed that a color blind assist is going to be implemented, similar to the one in last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops.

The studio's Vice President, Michael Condrey, highlighted just how many people were affected by color blindness, saying that, "Research suggests that as much as 6% of the general population suffers from Color Blindness, or more accurately Color Vision Deficiency. Men (9-12%) are 20x more likely to be afflicted than women (0.25-1%). "

This has ramifications for the large Call of Duty fan base, so the studio is going to implement a helpful option for color blind players.

"Those numbers vary depending on which source you quote, but we estimate that nearly a million gamers are playing Call of Duty every day with this issue. I am happy to report that we are working on a Color Blind Assist option for Modern Warfare 3."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to appear on November 8, from Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward, and published by Activision, for a variety of platforms, including the PC, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.

The title will be joined by the special Call of Duty Elite online service, which serves to add lots of special features, both free and premium ones, for the multiplayer mode, at the same time.
