Call of Duty: Black Ops is now the best-selling game of all time, at least according to its publisher, Activision, which confirmed during yesterday's investors call that its recent shooter has surpassed all other games and is even more addictive than Facebook.

Activision didn't showcase any new Call of Duty game during its earnings call, but did take the opportunity to showcase just how great its recent Call of Duty: Black Ops game actually was, saying that it is now the best-selling game of all time.

"During the first quarter, Call of Duty: Black Ops became the best-selling game of all time in dollars across the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC in the U.S. and Europe and was also the #1 game in the U.S. and Europe for the quarter."

While no official figures were revealed, the company emphasized that the whole Call of Duty franchise is stronger than ever.

Without a doubt the biggest surprise came from a statistic which showed that, since the release of the First Strike map pack for Black Ops, gamers have spent an average of 58 minutes each day playing the game, as opposed to the 55 minutes they spent each day on the popular Facebook social network.

As a comparison to its predecessor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which also broke many records, Black Ops managed to attract 33 percent more total unique online gamers, reaching an even larger install base all around the world.

What's more, sales of the First Strike map pack, which was released in February on the Xbox 360 and in March for the PlayStation 3 and PC, were 20% higher than the ones recorded by Modern Warfare 2's Stimulus Pack.

As you can imagine, with such a massive popularity, Activision has high hopes for its next Call of Duty projects, including the Beachhead project, which encompasses a multiplayer-only free-to-play title for the Asian market, and the next full pledged Call of Duty game, presumably Modern Warfare 3.
