Call of Duty: Black Ops may be getting a fourth downloadable map pack later this year, as its development studio, Treyarch, mentioned that fans should keep their eyes peeled for more news.

[ADMARk=1]Call of Duty: Black Ops is one of the best-selling games of all time, managing to topple sales records left and right since its release last year.

A major role in this performance should be attributed to the steady stream of downloadable content released for it, as three map packs were already launched for the first-person shooter, with the most recent, the Annihilation pack, appearing for the Xbox 360 yesterday.

Now, Treyarch Design Director David Vonderhaar has talked about the possibility of seeing a fourth DLC pack for the game in the near future.

The executive, during an interview with Digital Spy, declined to actually confirm a new DLC pack, but said that fans should "keep their eyes peeled" for more information in the following months.

Considering the scheduling of the previous map packs, First Strike, Escalation and Annihilation, we can expect an announcement to arrive in about two months.

The Annihilation DLC was just released for the Xbox 360, as part of the traditional timed exclusivity deal between Microsoft and the owner of the Call of Duty series, Activision, so in a month or so we can see the new DLC appear for other platforms like the PC or PlayStation 3.

After that, Activision and Treyarch may start teasing or hinting about the new DLC, which might appear around September, in order to keep players hooked until Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 arrives on November 8.

This is just speculation, however, so players should definitely enjoy the Annihilation DLC for Black Ops, now available for 1200 MS Points ($15) until any official confirmation is made by Treyarch or Activision.
