Call of Duty: Black Ops gets double XP weekend celebrating the Escalation DLC

In honor of the recent launch on the Xbox 360 of the Escalation DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops, the developer of the game, Treyarch, the publisher, Activision, and Microsoft, the console's manufacturer, are holding a special Double XP weekend for the first-person shooter.

"To kick off [new map pack] Escalation's release, we're opening up another Double XP Weekend across all systems," Treyarch said.

While the news of a special weekend that will net players double the amount of experience points in the multiplayer mode was known for a few weeks, Treyarch has now revealed that the weekend is going to be extended until Tuesday morning, in honor of its great fans.

"Additionally, in celebration of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Facebook page reaching 10 million fans, we'd like to show our thanks to everyone supporting us along the way by expanding the event's usual timeframe.

"Starting this Friday the 6th at 10am PDT, and extending to Tuesday the 10th at 10am PDT, you'll have plenty of time to rake in all the XP you could dream of. Whatever your goal, you've got 4 whole days to get there with twice the speed!"

Call of Duty: Black Ops is on its way to becoming the most profitable game of all time, and the release of the Escalation DLC earlier this week on the Xbox 360 will help it immensely in its endeavor.

The DLC, which appears on the Microsoft platform as part of a timed exclusive deal, includes four new maps for the competitive multiplayer mode, and a brand new scenario for the cooperative Zombies one, which allows you to kill the legions of undead while posing as famous actors like Danny Trejo or Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The Escalation add-on is currently available for download on the Xbox Live Marketplace, or through Black Ops' in-game store, for 1200 MS Points ($15).
