Cambridge Coders Limited announced the release of the first version of Calcuccino for iPhone. The application is a robust calculator for programming, as well as engineering and scientific use, with a touch-friendly interface for convenient operation.

Calcuccino makes good use of the iPhone's large touchscreen to improve usability compared to standard physical calculators. Swiping gestures can be performed across the interface to perform common tasks and show more information. For example, a simple swipe across the LCD can display the value in a different number base or scientific format. The same gesture can be performed on the favourites button to access 15 shortcuts which can be configured by the user. Or, a swipe across the main keyboard can reveal an interactive ASCII table.

Calcuccino includes all the standard functions expected from a programming calculator, and more. The main features of the application include:

- Signed integer, unsigned integer and floating point arithmetic. This is a unique capability and allows Calcuccino to handle numbers in the same way as the user’s native programming language - Variable integer size from 2 to 64 bits. Match the integer size to that of the underlying operating system or language – important when working with everything from small microcontrollers to large microprocessors - ASCII table. Convert both ways between ASCII code and value - 15 user favourites keys. Mix functions and values as required by the user. Redefine at any time - Bin, Oct, Dec and Hex number formats - Shifts and rotates. Includes both simple and arithmetic shifts - Bitwise logic (AND, OR, XOR, NOT, MOD etc.) - Scientific functions (trigonometry, powers). All the commonly used functions needed for day-to-day engineering - History, including the ability to Email the history steps

Calcuccino is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad devices running iPhone OS 3.1.3 or later. The application is iOS 4.0 tested and is optimized for iPhone 4's retina display. It carries a price tag of $2.99 and can be found here.
