Intel’s Core i7-2700K processors was already overclocked by Origin PC to 5.2GHz using water cooling a few months back, but for those of you wanting more than this the boutique builder has now fitted its GENESIS desktop with a phase change cooling system that takes Intel’s CPU to a whopping 5.7GHz.

Popular among enthusiasts a few years back, phase change cooling relies on a compressor that liquefies a gas loaded in the cooling system, which is then used to cool the CPU (the liquid evaporates basically changing its phase).

In the GENESIS, this type of cooling can keep get the processor temperature as low as -40 degrees Celsius, enabling Origin to deliver such an aggressively overclocked system to its users.

Outside of the Core i7-2700K CPU, the GENESIS can also be fitted with a six-core Intel Sandy Bridge-E processor and Intel X79 motherboard as well as with up to fur Nvidia GTX 580 3GB graphics cards setup to run in SLI.

Furthermore, users have the option to configure the rest of the systems any way they like, on the storage side of things Origin PC offering support for up to four drives, either HDD or solid state, setup to work in RAID.

"Origin PC's passion for building high performance PCs makes them one of the best system builders in the world," said Drew Henry, general manager of GeForce GPUs at Nvidia.

"Winning awards and setting world records with their GENESIS desktops and EON laptops is evidence of their commitment, experience, and dedication to building the world's best gaming platforms, all of which are powered by GeForce GTX GPUs," concluded Nvidia’s rep.

Origin PC is showcasing the new GENESIS gaming desktop at CES 2012, while its retail availability is scheduled for late Q1 2012. No details regarding pricing were made public.
