Given the fact that, after all, they've brought quite an impressive lineup of new Bravia 3D HDTVs at CES 2011, Sony decided to offer a little something for users who want to take 3D photos and revealed a whole bunch of new Cyber-Shot digital cameras providing 3D still image capture capabilities. The models in question are the DSC-TX100V, DSC-TX10, DSC-HX7V, DSC-WX10 and DSC-WX7, all of which come equipped with Sony's 3D Still Image mode, for taking 3D images using only one lens and imager.

According to Sony, in 3D Still Image mode, the 3D digital camera “takes two consecutive shots in different focus positions to calculate the depths, creating left-eye and right-eye images to produce a 3D effect.”

The cameras also include Sony's 3D Sweep Panorama feature, that debuted back in 2010 on the NEX models and lets users take panoramic pictures in one press-and-sweep motion, but also a brand new feature called Sweep Multi Angle that lets one view images moving in simulated 3D on the camera screen simply by tilting the camera back and forth.

All of the new Cyber-shot models pack a 16.2-megapixel sensor, while also being able to deliver advanced video recording capabilities (Full HD 1080 50i AVCHD), the most notable exception being the TX100V mode, that provides 50 progressive frames per second 1920 x 1080 video recording resolution.

Now that we've checked out some of the common features shared by these Cyber-shot digital cameras, it's about time to look at some of their particular selling points, such as the Sony G lens with 10x optical zoom and built-in GPS and Compass found on the Cyber-shot HX7V or the 7x, bright F2.4 24mm wide angle lens and the Hi-Speed Linear AutoFocus feature found on the DSC-WX7.

Also noteworthy is the TX10 digital camera, that is water-proof in up to 5 meters of water, as well as shock-proof and dust-proof, thus making it a very good accessory for one's holidays.

All of the new Cyber-shot cameras from Sony are slated to arrive in stores in March, the DSC-TX100V selling for 380 US dollars, the DSC-TX10 for about 330, the DSC-HX7V for about 300, while the DSC-WX10 and DSC-WX7 for around 280 and 220 US dollars, respectively.
