According to the latest news on the Web, the popular LG Cookie will soon become available for CDMA networks, at least for those in Asia, only that the model will come under the name of LG KX500. This move might suggest that its maker, LG, has changed course from the original plan to only make a GSM version of the device available on the market.

The new LG KX500, which seems to be the LG Cookie we all know, should give the company a helpful hand in its attempt to sell more than 10 million Cookies during the ongoing year. The handset sports CDMA2000 1x connectivity, while also including all the features that the original model has, such as a 3-inch touchscreen display that provides a 240 x 400 pixel resolution, a built-in accelerometer, or a 3-megapixel photo-snapper, in addition to the memory card slot for additional storage space.

The feature list of the LG KX500 also includes support for an LG Widget, which is said to offer access to applications like the personal organizer, the clock, calendar or the FM radio, depending on which of them are more used. At the same time, the phone also supports handwriting input, not to mention the media player with support for MP4, H.263, 3GP video files or MP3, AAC, AAC +, MIDI music files, along with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR and USB 2.0.

According to the news, the LG KX500 is expected to become available in the Asia-Pacific starting with May, the ongoing year, while its retail price seems to have been set at around $276. For the time being there is no information on whether the CDMA version of the LG Cookie will get launched on other markets as well, yet it could turn into an attractive option if brought to the United States, where it would offer compatibility with Verizon and Sprint’s networks.
