It's just the beginning of August but the team at Bungie that has been working on Halo: Reach says that development work on the video game is now finished, even though the launch date for the title is set for September 14. The latest installment in the series is coming exclusively on the Xbox 360 for Microsoft and it will be the last game linked to the franchise that Bungie is working on.

Joseph Tung, who is the executive producer working on Halo: Reach, says on the official blog of the company that, “Assuming things go well in certification, that means the only things standing between you all and Reach are the manufacturing process and shipping the discs to stores”, adding that, “It’s been a long haul getting the game to this point but the team is incredibly proud of the game and can’t wait to play with everyone on September 14th.”

The people at Bungie are also going on a publicity tour for their new game, with members of the team spreading on all continents in order to talk about Halo: Reach. Expect to see more events linked to the new shooter and new information about the single player and multiplayer as the launch date approaches.

Halo: Reach is set before the events of the first game in the series and will introduce quite a few changes to the gameplay mechanics. The focus will be on a squad identified by the callsign Noble which is fighting the Covenant forces before the fall of Reach. The player will take on the role of Noble 6 and the developers promise to answer some fundamental questions linked to the Halo universe in the single player campaign. The multiplayer will also be changed by the introduction of armor abilities that can be reused, including one that can make a player invulnerable for a short period of time.
