Video game developer Bungie has released a community-focused mobile application called simply Bungie Mobile and says that this is just the first move in a wider new focus for the company, which aims to make it easier for players to connect with its titles when they are on the move.

Bungie Mobile is designed to allow gamers to see their process in the latest Halo title, Reach, and also get access to the features and the news that are posted on the official website of both the video game and the developer.

Bungie Mobile is free, which is understandable given the included features, and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store by anyone interested in Halo: Reach.

Current reviews are very good and it seems Eric Osborne, one of the developers who have worked on Bungie Mobile, has said, “It’s our first, small step into the mobile world”, and then added, “It really is just a beginning - our first, super cute baby step. We already have adult-type plans to keep updating Bungie.net Mobile with new features and enhancements in the months and years to come.”

The fact that Bungie launched a Halo: Reach linked mobile app is a bit of a surprise, seeing how the company has very publicly separated from Microsoft and is now working with rival publisher Activision Blizzard.

Bungie's current plans are kept secret at the moment, but fans are speculating that the developer is aiming to create a new first-person shooter franchise built around a futuristic theme.

There has been speculation that the game might integrate MMO like elements and the recent new app focus that Bungie has been talking around could mean that the company is preparing a bigger experience, one which will try to keep gamers occupied on all the devices they own, from consoles to mobiles to, possibly, handhelds.
