Video game developer Bungie has announced that it will be making an important announcement regarding its future games project on July 7, which has been dubbed Bungie Day by fans of the company.

Eric Osborne, who is one of the developers at Bungie, has posted on the official company blog that, “A significant amount of my time is also now being dedicated to other upcoming endeavors that won’t make a splash on the front page until Bungie Day closes in around us”.

He added, “Unfortunately, that means there are just too many balls in the air for me to juggle without letting a few fall to the ground. More explicit details about those balls in the weeks ahead.”

The statement above was posted to justify why Bungie has not been very active on the official site lately, which is apparently linked to the Los Angeles excursion that is supposed to be super secret.

It's not clear whether Bungie will be making an official announcement at the E3 trade show.

Bungie is best known by gamers because they rewrote the rules of the first-person shooter with Halo: Combat Evolved and created an enduring game universe and main character that have managed to power four full games.

Bungie has severed its long-running relationship with Microsoft and has entered into a ten-year agreement with publisher Activision Blizzard, aimed at creating a whole new franchise.

The rumor mill is saying that Bungie is working on a first-person shooter and MMO combination that should be as addictive as World of Warcraft while satisfying a whole new consumer segment.

Bungie has recently registered a number of trademarks, including Destiny, that might be the name of the new video game and there are also some dummy corporations lead by personnel from the developer that have hinted at future projects.
