Looking for partners

Bungie Studios remain in the minds of gamers worldwide as the developers of the hit futuristic shooter Halo. They gained fame through this franchise and have brought an unrivaled success to the Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles. Formerly part of the Microsoft Game Studios development team, the Bungie staff decided to become independent and tackle new projects.

Although their current project is the extremely hyped up Halo 3: Recon expansion to the massive Halo 3 title, the company is looking further into the future and has just declared, through the voice of their spokesperson, Brian Jarrard, that the studio is still in the decisive phases for a new project. He developed the fact that the company had the resources to go onto almost any platform but nothing had been decided.

“No, we're not tied into a specific platform for new IP. We haven't gotten that far yet to be totally honest... In theory we do have every means to go out and find the right ecosystem, the right partners, to align with. So who knows what the future will bring us.”

This statement definitely sounds like the company is looking for partners to help endorse the development of the next titles in the Bungie lineup. They can be Sony, Nintendo or old time partners Microsoft; it's still an open project. But one thing's for sure, the title will definitely be a best seller, largely due to the big number of Bungie fans who are very loyal to the company and will buy almost any kind of game created by their beloved studio.

Although nothing about this new title has been revealed by the developers, some key members of the company declared some time ago that it would be very different from the Halo universe. This statement definitely sparked controversy and speculations on the Internet about a RPG, or role playing game, that would be developed by Bungie but the company declined to comment on those rumors. We will just have to wait until fall 2009 for Halo 3: Recon.
