AMC confirmed that it would air a “Breaking Bad” spinoff centered on Saul Goodman and, according to series creator Vince Gilligan, fans should also expect a handful of cameos from Walter White / Heisenberg and Jesse Pinkman.

It’s not a lot, but it’s definitely better than nothing at all.

Speaking with THR, Gilligan proves he’s aware of the dangers of coming out with a spinoff after the end of a series that has been described as the closest thing to TV perfection in recent years.

“There’s obviously a danger inherent in doing a spinoff, but I just love the character of Saul Goodman [Bob Odenkirk] so much, and part of me doesn’t want to say no to this world. [Peter Gould and I are] both one-hour drama guys, so we figured, ‘Why not shoot Saul in the same way?’,” he says.

“Let’s shoot it in Albuquerque, let’s get as much of the crew back together as possible, and let’s do it the way we did it before so that it will be of a piece with that pre-existing fictional universe that we had so much fun creating,” Gilligan explains.

And yes, Cranston and Paul might also pop in for a few appearances “every now and then,” he says.

The spinoff series will take place before the events in “Breaking Bad,” and will probably have a lighter, funnier approach that it because, you know, we’re talking about Saul here.
