As “Breaking Bad” is nearing series finale, heartbroken fans have at least one thing to make the thought of goodbye somewhat more tolerable: Mr. White and Jesse will be gone, but Saul Goodman will live on.

AMC has just confirmed that a “Breaking Bad” spinoff with the funny and brilliant criminal lawyer has been greenlit. Rumors about it first emerged online in April this year.

Deadline confirms the news, saying the spinoff series is tentatively called “Better Call Saul.” Fans must know that this is also the name of the episode that introduced Bob Odenkirk’s character, which offers most of the series’ comic relief.

“Conceived by Breaking Bad creator Gilligan and series writer-producer Peter Gould — who created the Saul character together for a Season 2 episode written by Gould — the spinoff will be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the Goodman character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer,” Deadline reports.

If you don’t know Saul, you’ve missing out on lots of laughs, my friend.

Above is a Saul Goodman episode that won’t spoil “Breaking Bad” for you (in case you haven’t seen it) but which is enough to help you understand what he’s all about.
