The newest World War II shooter

World War II shooters have been really saturating the market for quite some time, but this doesn't stop developers like Treyarch from creating Call of Duty 5: World at War. Gearbox is no exception to this rule and has revived its own WWII-based franchise, Brothers in Arms, with Hell's Highway. The action of the game follows the Ally push through the Netherlands in order to drive off the Germans from the country. The squad based shooter will follow the battles of a young Staff Sergeant, while he leads his team through the Dutch territory.

Although the game was already released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on September 23, Gearbox has only now launched the demo for Microsoft's console. After last week's demo release for the PS3, gamers now have the chance to test the shooter on both consoles before deciding which version to buy. It will be available for anyone to download, except people who live in Germany and Asia, where the game has sparked quite a lot of controversy.

Following the famous Operation Market Garden, which cut off the German troops in the Netherlands from their supply lines, the game promises some interesting new features, the most important being the new health system, which replaces the old health per mission one. The weapons will now fire more precisely, a solution to one of the most sensitive issues from the first two games.

The new Artificial Intelligence system will now be more careful to the player's actions and more prone to mistakes such as tripping. Based on the Unreal Engine 3, the game will offer splendid visual effects and, for the Windows version, the players will be able to take advantage of the features in DirectX 10.

All in all, a pretty interesting concept for a WWII shooter and if you are interested, you can go download the demo for the system of your choice on the Xbox Live Marketplace or PlayStation Network.
