Since her controversial and very public meltdown, Britney Spears has been very scant with personal details in interviews, mostly because they’re pre-screened by her father and management so she’s never caught off guard. This is what makes her most recent stand out, because she is absolutely candid on topics she never discussed before.

As fans must be aware, Britney ended her engagement to Jason Trawick in January this year, just when the tabloids were starting to think she should be getting ready to walk down the aisle. On Valentine’s Day, she stepped out in public for the first time with her current boyfriend, David Lucado.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Britney is ready to say the L-word out loud in reference to David. He makes her happy, she gushes.

“I'm in love... I like the fact that [Lucado is] very stubborn and he's stuck in his ways. He's just a simple man. I adore him. He's really funny and he's really passionate. I love the fact that anything he's involved in he's passionate about and it's contagious,” the pop star says.

She confirms reports that were also making the rounds at the time when they first started dating, that her father (who is also her conservator) ran a background check on David before they went out, saying, “My dad’s a little crazy like that.”

Considering that, right before her meltdown (or at the height of it, depending how you wish to consider it), Britney also dated a paparazzo who sold her out the first chance he was offered, and that her former manager drugged her to make more money off photo ops he arranged with the paparazzi, no one can really blame Mr. Spears for being a little bit more cautious.

Britney also says she’d like to have more children but doesn’t think she wants to marry for a third time, and talks at length about her new album, “Britney Jean,” which comes out in December, at the same time as she kicks off a 2-year residency in Las Vegas.

“I would say [the album] was kind of like therapy for me. It just kind of transformed me. As you write something your perspective changes. So, it was like my ‘good therapy record.’ I'm an artist so I think there are periods in everyone's life where you get kind of reclusive, your creative outlet is cut off,” she explains.
