Britney Spears is back with a vengeance and, this time, she’s not taking any prisoners. Her latest single, “Hold It Against Me,” off her upcoming album, is already breaking records after a little over a week from release.

Even though it leaked before the official release (first the demo and then the final version), the single turned out to be a smashing hit with fans, who rushed online to purchase it or at the very least to listen to it.

Mediabase, a website specializing in monitoring and analyzing tunes airplay, says “Hold It Against Me” broke at least three records in less than a week from release.

Even for Britney, who by now must be accustomed to killing all competition in the charts, that’s truly an amazing feat.

“ All Access and Mediabase send congrats to Britney Spears and the entire Jive Label Group staff on setting new Mediabase records in the Published Chart,” the e-zine writes.

“Britney Spears lands an enormous debut at 22* with ‘Hold It Against Me.’ Britney Spears also shatters the one-week spincrease record at 3,866 spins. Britney Spears has the biggest one week audience debut of 33,237,000,” the same publication reports.

And that’s not all: “In today’s Mediabase Building Chart, Spears prints with an amazing debut at 15*.”

This comes on top of Spears landing straight at number 1 on iTunes shortly after the single was released, which prompted rapper Kanye West to try and make a joke about it on Twitter.

As we also reported over the weekend, West also has a new single out, “HAM,” a collaboration with Jay Z, which, because of Britney’s new hit, only scored the second position on iTunes.

Kanye tried to joke about it, while also showing the world that his ego still allowed him to make fun of himself – but he came across as a sore loser, with Britney’s manager putting him back in his place, on the same social network.
