Late last year, Britney Spears announced she’d come out with new music in the first week of the new year. Her first single off the upcoming album, “Hold It Against Me,” is out today, but a demo version of it has already leaked online.

The demo made its way online hours ago and, while it doesn’t feature Spears’ vocals, it does offer a good idea of what fans are to expect from the new song, as NY Mag’s Vulture also points out.

Since the leak, Britney’s camp has done the impossible to tell fans that the final song is countless times better than the demo – not that there really was any need for that, since they seem to love it as it is.

Britney herself tweeted that she knew of the leak, assuring fans the single will be better. “Heard an early demo of my new single leaked. If u think that’s good, wait til you hear the real one Tuesday,” she wrote on Twitter.

To further dispel any talk of similarities between the demo and any Ke$ha or Lady Gaga track, Brit’s manager offered Ryan Seacrest an exclusive first listen of the finished track.

Consequently, Seacrest too has joined the line of people telling fans that the finished version is miles away from the demo, and promising them a song that will literally burn up the charts.

Moreover, he also got some inside details about an upcoming video for this first single.

“[Larry] Rudolph and [Adam] Leber explained to Ryan that the creative process for ‘Hold It Against Me’ music video is well underway and are nothing short of spectacular. Spears has been rehearsing choreography for the video for a month now, and will shoot in two weeks,” a post on Ryan’s official webpage reads.

As for the sound of “Hold It Against Me,” Vulture describes it as an “Euro-pop thump familiar to anyone who’s even minimally aware of the rise of Lady Gaga, [and] a bluntly effective sing-along chorus.”

It’s bound to kill competition in the charts. Check out the demo version for Britney Spears’ upcoming “Hold It Against Me” and make sure you check back for the finished version.
