Bristol Palin may have been harshly criticized for getting pregnant when she was still a teen and unmarried, but at least she took the lemons and made lemonade: she made over $260,000 in 2009 alone speaking against teen pregnancy.

Palin, who’s also made a small fortune with her stint on Dancing With the Stars, which she actually came close to winning, is also cashing in big time off her duties as spokesperson, TMZ reports.

“Bristol Palin BANKED more than $262 thousand in 2009, for her role as a spokesperson for a teen pregnancy prevention campaign,” the e-zine notes.

The caps are there to stress that this is the amount that she pocketed after taxes and everything else.

“The former Dancing With The Stars contestant became an ambassador for The Candie’s Foundation in 2009 when she was 18... just a few months after giving birth to her son, Tripp... and according to tax documents, the job paid off,” the e-zine notes.

Her job with the foundation had her speak at various events and do all sorts of promo materials urging teens not to rush into things and practice abstinence.

“[Bristol] plays an important role by helping other teens understand the incredible challenges teen parents face, and encouraging them to wait until they are socially and financially independent to start their families,” the website of the Foundation says of Bristol’s involvement.

As TMZ also points out, she’s still listed as working with the Foundation, which means she’s still making money with it.

On a more personal note, Bristol recently came under fire when Gawker uncovered her boyfriend’s Facebook page (which has been updated immediately after word of this got out), which painted him as a homophobe and a racist.

As we also informed you at the time, the page of Palin’s new beau, a pipeline worker from Alaska, included various derogatory comments, including one about what he really thought of Sarah Palin’s reality show, to which he referred as “Idiot’s of Alaska [sic].”
