The DLC will be ready for the Xbox on December 29, on January 7 for the PS3, and eventually it will also come on the PC

Borderlands was one of the few games that managed to live up to the hype it generated and, while it wasn't really a day-one DLC like Dragon Age: Origins, the first extra goody delivered via downloadable content was ready in no time at all. Even if The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned came out on the PC just yesterday, the consoles have already had more than enough time to go back and forth on it, stomping and head-pooping every undead monstrosity on Jacobs Cove.

The DLC was a really good one, mainly focused on single player and quite heavily story driven. It was received really well by fans, so it's no wonder that Gearbox has another one already in the making. The upcoming Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot will be ready for the Xbox 360 by the end of December. The pack will be available for $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points and for the same price on the PlayStation Network when it arrives, on January 7, 2010. The Underdome Riot will also come to the PC, but there is no date for the release just yet.

Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot will feature three new Riot Mode arenas, a storage bank for some of your most precious loot and also a chance to earn two extra skill points to go for your level 50, maxed-out character. But that's not all that will be found in the DLC. Apparently, it will feature a lot more, and it's "not just new deathmatch areas," Gearbox Software says. The company's CEO, Randy Pitchford, felt that there were some confusions regarding Mad Moxxi, so he has stepped forward and made it very clear, and very loud. "This is an ENTIRELY NEW GAME MODE."

"Think [Halo 3] ODST's 'Firefight' or Gears of War's 'Horde Mode.' Cash, prizes and competition!" Pitchford adds. "It's like Smash TV in coop FPS, but in the Borderlands." Gearbox's statement also explains that the DLC "expands greatly on the possibilities of combat as well adding a ton of new rules such as vampire mode or low gravity mode..."
