Police may have captured one of the suspects in the Boston Marathon explosions on the MIT campus, and are chasing down a second one in Watertown.

The MIT shooting on which we reported earlier has left one police officer killed and has ended in a suspect fleeing the campus. They have set up a perimeter in Watertown, sources say.

“MIT Police have determined that the suspect in this evening’s shooting is no longer on campus,” MIT officials said in a statement.

FBI officials say that it is “too early to speculate” on whether or not the same men have been responsible for the bombings at the marathon.

According to the Boston Globe, an FBI agent dispatched to Watertown tells the press that the second suspect is armed and may be carrying explosives.

“It just sounded like there was automatic weapons going off, and I heard a few explosions. […] They sounded like fireworks, mostly, big fireworks going off - tons, I’d say.

“I’m really scared. When I found out it was gunshots, that just knocked the wind out of me,” one witness describes.

The fugitive has been involved in a fire exchange with authorities, and could have a semi-automatic firearm in his possession.

“Ya gotta get outta here. There’s an active shooter here with an active explosive. Go!,” a police officer told residents in the Arsenal Court and Arsenal Street area.

“It sounded like a stick of dynamite went off. [...] I looked out the window, and it was like nothing I’ve ever seen – blue light after blue light after blue light,” resident Peter Jennings living on Prentiss Street recalls of hearing an explosion.

“I just heard tons of gunshots. [...] Gunshot, gunshot, gunshot, gunshot. Then I saw an explosion and saw a burst of light in the sky,” adds passerby Adam Healy, who remembers several rounds shot.
