Two new mobile phones are expected to make an official appearance on the market in Canada in the near future, both of them set to land on Virgin Mobile's airwaves, it seems, namely the BlackBerry Bold 9780, and the Samsung Galaxy 5.

It appears that the long rumored Bold 9780 refresh might become available for purchase in Canada before the end of this month, replacing the Bold 9700 on the carrier's offering.

Rumor has it that the new mobile phone would make an appearance on the carrier's lineup on October 21st, and that it should sport a price tag of $149 on the company's SuperTab or on contract.

Unfortunately, no info on the upright price tag for the device emerged for the time being, but chances are that it would be priced at around $549, a recent article on MobileSyrup notes.

As a replacement for the Bold 9700, the new handset would include a full QWERTY keyboard and 2.4-inch display, as well as a 5 megapixel photo snapper, and the new BlackBerry 6 OS on board. It should land in Black and White.

However, this won't be the only new device Virgin Mobile brings to its offering in the following weeks, as Samsung Galaxy 5 is also said to be en route to its network.

Moreover, it appears that the carrier managed to score an exclusive agreement on the handset's release on the Canadian market, and that it would be available for free on the aforementioned SuperTab contract.

November 12 would be the release date for this handset, which might actually prove to be the Galaxy model that brings Android to Virgin's lineup, since nothing is known on the release of that Virgin Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant handset.

The specifications list of the new device includes a 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen display, complemented by a 600MHz processor, on top of which Samsung pre-loaded Android 2.1 (an upgrade to 2.2 is also expected).

Other specs would include Wi-Fi connectivity, 3.5mm headset jack, built-in GPS receiver, a 2 megapixel camera, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 16GB of additional storage space.
