Bohemia Interactive, the video games developer that is well known for the military simulations it produces, has announced that it is working on a new helicopter simulation, called Take On Helicopters, which is set to be launched exclusively on the PC in the fourth quarter of 2011.

Despite the background of Bohemia Interactive, the company says that Take On Helicopter will not feature any combat but will instead challenge the player to master a range of civilian aircraft.

Harry Larkin, a pilot which owns his own flight business, has been having problems lately and is only a few days away from losing his life's work and the company he has built up will be sold.

His sons band together in order to take on contracts and face all sorts of obstacles as they use helicopters and their flying skills in order to save the company.

The game will take part in environments modeled after both North America and South Asia, using actual terrain data for the areas to create complex and beautiful spaces to be explored while flying.

Bohemia Interactive also says that it will be modeling all the included helicopters in as much detail as possible and that all the flight mechanics will be built to come close to the real world experience of flying in a helicopter.

Take on Helicopters will also include a capable level editor and cooperative multiplayer missions.

Marek Spanel, who is the chief executive officer of Bohemia Interactive, has said, “Our military simulators from the Arma series have been providing infinite fun and creativity for nearly a decade now. Helicopters were always an important part of our games and we feel it is time to give them some proper polish in a dedicated project.”

He added, “Take On Helicopters is an accessible yet very authentic helicopter game, which challenges players to prove their flight skills in the rich environments of North America and South Asia.”
