Video game developer Blizzard seems to have confirmed that versions of its upcoming hack and slash Diablo III title are being prepared for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, although it seems that they will be launched later than the PC game.

Josh Mosqueira, who is the lead designer working on the console versions of Diablo III, has said the company “is very, very serious about bringing the Diablo 3 experience to the console.”

He added, “Today, we’re trying to build the best console team at Blizzard. We’re looking for programmers, designers, artists who think their dream job would be to bring Diablo to the console. Trust me, it is a dream job. All I can say is it’s going to be awesome. Stay tuned.”

Back at the beginning of 2011 Blizzard offered job listings for home console versions of Diablo III but the company said that this did not constitute an announcement.

The recent statement made at Gamescom 2011 is also not an official statement but the company seems ready to acknowledge that Diablo III is just too big of a franchise to stay within the confines of the PC world.

The fact that Blizzard is just now assembling the full team that would create the home console versions of the game might mean that PC gamers will have exclusive access to Diablo III for some time before those who own an Xbox 360 or a PlayStation 3 can pick the game up.

Blizzard does not yet have an official launch date for Diablo III but the company has said that a beta stage which includes a fight with the Skeleton King will be taking place during the fall of this year.

Its main task will be to test the infrastructure needed for the new always on system, which will also support the new real money auction house system.
