Those who come back get free access to armor and Cataclysm

Video game developer Blizzard has announced that it is offering a range of bonuses to all the players who are ready to return to the MMO World of Warcraft as long as they can convince a friend who is still playing to use a Scroll of Resurrection on their own character.

Those affected by the powerful Scroll will see their character boosted up to level 80 and they will also get access to a new set of armor and a new spectral mount.

The account of the player who returns to the game will get free access to Cataclysm, the most recent expansion that was launched for World of Warcraft, and he also has a chance to move his character to the server and the faction of the gamer who used the Scroll of Resurrection without paying for the privilege.

All the perks and free access elements are clearly designed to get long-term fans of the Blizzard MMO back into the game and allow them to quickly experience new content and then start paying their subscription again.

The move is clearly designed to reverse the player loss that World of Warcraft has been experiencing for about one year, which has seen the MMO drop toward the 10 million active player mark.

It’s not clear whether the Scroll of Resurrection perks will remain the same forever or they are only available for a limited period.

Later during 2012 Blizzard is set to launch a new expansion for its venerable MMO, called Mists of Pandaria, which will introduce the first neutral faction to the game and will also deliver new areas to explore and a new class, the Monk.

There are also rumors that World of Warcraft will also offer a bigger portion of the game under the free-to-play model later in the year.

Blizzard is currently also working on a mysterious new MMO called Project Titan.
