Ten years is not enough

The StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty launch has been one of the smoothest to ever grace the complicated PC platform. However, even 10 years of hard work cannot squish every bug and fix every error. To help players avoid some of these problems, Blizzard has issued a list of known bugs and potential fixes for some of them on the official U.S. and European forums.

Those who have experienced a language pack error should try to ensure that their system clock is correctly set, according to Blizzard's customer service. This is only a potential fix, though, so a patch should be expected to arrive soon. Realtek HD Audio sound card owners should be aware also that setting their Output Device in the Sounds Menu to Speakers will make them unable to receive voice in the multiplayer component.

StarCraft II seems to have a problem with 7.1 sound, so players should set their speaker options to 5.1 or lower to avoid the audio not playing properly. Another sound issue is connected to changing the OS speaker mode while running the game in Windows Vista or Windows 7. This will halt all audio playback as a result.

Digital downloads and installs are not available for hard drives using the FAT 32 file format, meaning that players should switch to the modern NTFS format before attempting an Internet installation of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. Apple users should be warned that Mac OS X 10.6 has an issue with Nvidia drivers and that using an USB headset will have a negative effect on the game's performance.

It is also written that, “There is a chance where multiple graphic issues may occur for units, structures, terrain, and transmissions. This tends to be one set of objects (like a supply depot) or level of terrain where textures are swapped or look a bit psychedelic. It doesn't affect the whole game screen or cause any other visual oddities.”

The Galaxy editor also has some issues regarding the terrain editor and the detail view. More precisely, there is a lag in the terrain editor when the mouse is dragged across the map and changing certain values while in the Galaxy Editor will result in a crash if done in detail view. StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is out now for Mac and PC.
