14 DAY TRIAL // Yesterday was the launch date for Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty and we've already played a few hours of the new real time strategy title from Blizzard. Expect a full review to arrive on Friday but until then here's a complete look at the content of the Collector's Edition of the game, an exclusive offer which many stores now report as being sold out.
The first point of interest is the box itself. With all the objects put inside it's quite heavy, sturdy enough to use as a blunt weapon in an emergency. It will also look very good on most shelves, with its only downside the fact that it looks better with the jaws open than closed, a position that could be difficult to achieve.
Another highlight is the USB drive shaped like dog tags that comes pre loaded with copies of the original Starcraft and Broodwar. It's unlikely that any long time fans will actually replay the two previous installment in the series but the dog tags themselves are very pretty, even if top orange layer seem a bit fragile to the touch lost amidst all that metal.
The Collector's Edition of Starcraft II also includes the first issue of a comic built around the game universe, with the main characters, the War Pigs, also making an appearance as playable mercenaries in the game itself. The comic is interesting, nicely drawn and well written.
