Aksys Games, as the publisher, has announced that it will be releasing a PlayStation Portable version of its fighting title BlazBlue at some point during March.

The team at Ark System Works, that worked on the game originally released on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and on the PlayStation 3 from Sony, is saying that every frame of action rendered on the two home consoles will be taken and then delivered on the PSP handheld, making sure that the experience is in no way degraded by the move to a mobile platform.

The main game modes offered by BlazBlue are: Calamity Trigger, training, score attack, story, arcade and versus, also set to carry over without any modifications.

Plus, Aksys is offering some PlayStation Portable exclusive additions. For every one of the characters included in BlazBlue, the PSP version will also get a new “unlimited” version, which has fresh fighting abilities, and is perfect for more advanced players.

There will be new character illustrations offered in the Shop area of the game. The connectivity capabilities of the PlayStation Portable will be put to good use, with up to four players able to join in local multiplayer matches. Only two of them will actually take part in the fighting during each match, while the other two will take on the role of spectators.

The final addition for the portable version of BlazBlue will be the Legion mode. This will allow each player to create their customized roster of up to 20 fighters that they can then use to conquer an entire map populated with enemy army groups.

Developer Ark System Works has already released a sequel to BlazBlue, called Continuum Shift, in arcade cabinets in Japan and a Nintendo DS spinoff is also in the works.
