Though they were never available when sought for comment on the alleged romance between Leonardo DiCaprio and Blake Lively, their publicists are now confirming that the two have broken up.

Just when even skeptics were starting to believe that the two had what it took to make it as a couple, the actors put an end to their romance, their reps say for Us Weekly.

It was fun while it lasted!” the celebrity magazine writes.

“After five months together, Blake Lively and Leonardo DiCaprio have parted ways, reps for both stars confirm exclusively to Us Weekly. The pair ‘remain friends,’ Lively and DiCaprio’s reps added,” the publication further writes.

As we also informed you at the time, the two stars first made a public appearance as a couple in Cannes, at the Film Festival this May, when they completely surprised the tabloid media.

Since then, as Us writes, their romance has never ceased to grab headlines, especially since insiders were saying the two were completely smitten with each other.

“First spotted getting cozy while aboard Steven Spielberg’s yacht in Monte Carlo on May 17 during the Cannes Film Festival, the couple embarked on a whirlwind, super-luxe summer romance that spanned the globe,” the magazine writes.

“During their time together, the Gossip Girl actress, 24, and Inception star, 36, took their PDA parade to romantic locales ranging from Venice, Italy to Anaheim, Calif. to NYC,” Us adds.

“In late August, Lively even flew thousands of miles from the U.S. to Sydney, Australia – for a quick weekend – where her beau was filming The Great Gatsby,” the same media outlet reports.

At one point, word in the blogosphere even had it that the two were living together and talking about getting even more serious than that, by tying the knot sometime in the future.

Either way, it’s good news that they “remain friends.”
